4SS. 6-8 and K-5 are G/60, d5; K-3 and U1200 are G/45, d5; and U800 and U400 are G/30, d5. Round 1 at 9:30 AM; other rounds ASAP. Registration onsite: 8:30 - 9:00 AM. On-site registration cut-off is 9:00 AM sharp. Anybody registering after 9:00 will receive a 0-point bye in Round 1, and will be paired in Round 2. There are no 1/2 point byes available. Registration by Mail, Payable: MACA. Mail entry to: Robert Messenger, 4 Hamlett Dr., Apt 12, Nashua NH 03062 Membership Requirement: Current US Chess and MACA Membership required. Inquiry: info@masschess.org 617-256-5536. No phone entries. No 1/2 byes available. Trophies for top 3 in each division; winning MA student in each 6-8, K-5, K-3 qualifies for state championship finals. (Ties broken by playoff games among MA students) , Medals awarded to those scoring at least 3 points who do not win a trophy, or to any player with the same point score as the third-place trophy winner. Parking is in the back of the School (on James street). There is a farmer market next to the Montrose School on that day from 9am to 1pm. Therefore there are less parking spots available, but you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits for playing kids. No smoking, no computers, or electronic devices other than US Chess-approved scorekeeping devices; site is wheelchair-accessible. Section eligibility based on 2024-25 school grade. Players in grades K-5 can't enter the Grades 6-8 section. Bring your own chess set, board, and chess clock (if you have one). Items not provided at tournament. But on site there will be a seller of chess equipment Randi, from whom you can buy chess sets, chess clock, chess books, etc. Cash or checks only are accepted. Players must be rated 1000 or above, official or live, to play in the 6-8 qualifier section, 800 or above to play in K-5. There is no minimum rating to play in the K-3 qualifier section but we recommend that players be rated 600 or above. |
